Master of Arts in History and Law, Cambridge University. Master of Laws in International Law, Cambridge University.

Career

With Jordanian diplomatic service, 1975. 2nd secretary, then 1st secretary Permanent Mission to Jordan to the United Nations, New York City, 1976-1980. With Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 1980-1985, head legal department, 1985-1990.

Seconded to Royal Court, 1990. Ambassador, 1992, 95. Appointed adviser to king, 1995.

Adviser to state on international law, 1995. Chief Royal Hashemite Court, 1996-1998. Judge International Court of Justice, The Hague, Netherlands, since 2000, vice president, 2006—2009.

Member Arab International Law Commission, 1982—1989. Member subcommission prevention of discrimation/protection of minorities Commission Human Rights, 1984—1993. Chairman commission IV United Nations Educational General Conference, 1993.

Member International Law Commission, 1986—1999, Jordanian Royal Commission Legislation/Administrative Reform, 1994—1996. Chairman Jordanian National Grp. Implementation of International Humanitarian Law, 1998—2006.

Lecturer in academy seminars and various universities.
