Ordained Southern Baptist ministry, 1884. Pastor successively at Albany, Quitman, Decatur and Conyers, Canton and Cairo, Georgia, until 1914. Bursar-treasurer Mercer University, 1914-1928.

Recording secretary Georgia Baptist Convention since 1895. Has written, compiled public 49 volumes of the Year Book of the Convention, served as historian since 1928, and as preacher annual sermon, 1929.
