Akhmadulina, Bella was born in 1937 in Moscow.

Education

Graduated from the Moscow Gorkii Literary Institute.

Career

In the early 1960s considered one of the best young modern poetesses in the Soviet Union. Became known as a member of the group which consisted of Evtushenko, Voznessenskii and others (oboima). Married Evtushenko. Later divorced and remarried to the well-known Soviet writer, Iu.

Nagibin. Remained a distinctive neoclassical voice in modern Russian poetry, though her early promise faded somewhat over the years.

Married 1st Yevgeniy Yevtushenko in 1960. Married 2nd Yuriy Nagibin. Married 3rd Boris Messerer in 1974.
