Career

Teacher country schools of Iowa, and in graded schools of Missouri, 1884-1889. Engaged with brother as live stock dealer, Bloomfield, Iowa, 1889-1891. Became editor Davis County Republican, 1891.

Presidential elector 6th Iowa District, 1892. Republican candidate for Iowa House of Representatives, 1893. Member Iowa Senate, 1895-1898 (resigned).

Postmaster of Bloomfield, Iowa, 1898-1902. State auditor of Iowa 3 terms, 1903-1909. Governor of Iowa, 1909-1911, 1911-1913.

Chairman of the Board Commercial Finance Corporation. President Carroll Investment Company.
