Bono (Paul David Hewson) Edit Profile

singer , writer

Bono (real name - Paul David Hewson) is an Irish musician, businessman and activist. He is recognized mostly for being a vocalist of famous band U2.

Beside his musical activity he is known for for his activism concerning Africa.

Bono is a co-founder of several companies that were established to raise awareness and fund to help eliminate HIV/AIDS in Africa (DATA, EDUN, the ONE Campaign and Product Red).

Paul was born in the capital of Ireland on May 10, 1960. His father was a Catholic and mother attended Anglican Church of Ireland services.

His childhood passed in a poor Dublin district - Ballymun (Ballymun). Paul's mother died of a brain aneurysm in 1974 and this influenced the boy a lot: he was expelled from school at the Anglican Cathedral of St. Patrick for extremely inappropriate behavior.

Later Hewson attended public high school Mount Temple. The boy was fond of chess and learned to play the guitar and sing , took part in school theatrical performances . During his school years he was a member of the musical group Lypton Village: with friends Hewson played in public places, such as buses , mostly shocking the audience. In those years, he got his nickname - Bono , from Bono Vox of O'Connell Street ( good voice O'Connell Street ) .

In 1976, Lawrence " Larry " Mullen , Jr. (Laurence "Larry" Mullen, Jr.) posted on the board of school announcements a leaflet to create a group. Bono responded, as well as bassist Adam Clayton (Adam Clayton) and guitarist David " The Edge " Evans (David "Edge" Evans). Orogonally Mullen's friends played in the band, but later they left, and since then the collective of musicians has not changed , which is a rarity for rock 'n' roll groups.
