Barron received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois in 1940. Two years later he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the same university.
Barron began his career as a rotating intern at Los Angeles County General (nowadays Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center) in 1942 and had held the position for a year. In 1946, he was appointed a resident of internal medicine at Portland Veterans Administration Hospital. Then in 1948, Charles became a surgeon in the United States Army. He worked at Lockheed Corporation from 1950 to 1979. In 1953, Barron took a position of a medical director at the same corporation, where he served until his retirement in 1979.
Also in 1954, Charles was appointed a professor of aviation safety division at the University of Southern California. In 1956, he took the same position at the University of Southern California Medical School. In addition, Charles was a lecturer at postgraduate avaiation medicine at the University of California at Los Angeles and Ohio State University.
Barron was a member of Industrial Medical Association, Aerospace Medical Association, American, California, Los Angeles County Medical Associations, Airlines Medical Directors Association, International Society of Air Safety Investigations, International Academy of Aviation and Space Medicine and Ramazzini Society.
On July 23, 1945 Charles Barron married Iris Louisa Barklow. The marriage produced four children.
