Preached as licentiate, Kensington, Connecticut, 1879-1882. Ordained Congressional ministry, 1885. Pastor Bethlehem, Connecticut, 1882-1887, Danbury, 1887-1893, 2d Church, Norwich, 1893-1902.

Professor philosophy, Fisk U., Nashville, Tennessee, since 1902. Also college pastor, 1902-1912, dean, 1912-1913, acting president, 1914-1915, dean and professor philosophy same university, 1915-1921, dean emeritus, since 1921. Was member board of education, Danbury, and Norwich, and trustee Otis Public Library, Norwich.
