Background

Wood, David Duffle was born on March 2, 1838 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. Son of Jonathan and Welhelmina Wood.

Education

Entered Pennsylvania Institute for Blind, October 20, 1843. Graduate June 1856.

Career

Studied higher mathematics under the late James G. Blaine, 1852-1854. Studied pipe organ under Wilhelm Schnabel, 1851-1852. Studied other musical instruments, Ernst Pfeiffer, 1852-1856 (Museum Doctor, Temple College, Philadelphia).

Musical compositions (very few of which have been published), chiefly church anthems and songs.
