Eduardo Chillida Juantegui was a Spanish sculptor.

Background

He was born on January 10, 1924. In 1942, and began his studies to prepare for the entrance to the School of Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. In 1951 he returned to San Sebastian. He suffered Alzheimer's disease in his later years. On August 19, 2002 he passed away at his home in Monte Igueldo, San Sebastian.

Career

He made his first sculptures in Madrid. These sculptures were made in plaster. He began his rivalry with the sculptor Jorge Oteiza. Jorge Oteiza accused Eduardo Chillida of plagiarizing his work.
