Eiger was born on May 3, 1963 in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States; the daughter of Thomas Lawrence Mui and Lois Wing-han (Thom) Mui.
Eiger received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Wellesley College in 1985. A year later she earned his Master of Arts degree in Science Education from Columbia University. Also in 1998, Elisa earned his Master of Business Administration degree from New York University.
Eiger began her career as a teacher of biology at Rumson Fair Haven Regional High School in 1986. A year later she took a position of an associate editor at Prentice-Hall, Inc. Then in 1990, Elisa became a project editor and a project leader in 1993 at the same company.
In 1999, she held a position a manager of design services at Test University, Inc. Since 2001 Elisa has been serving as a director of educational design at that company.
On June 21, 1987 Elisa Eiger married Martin Isaiah Eiger.
