Chancellor diocese of Winona, 1920-1922. Vice rector St. Mary’s College, 1918-1926. Consecrated titular bishop of Milasa and auxiliary bishop of Winona, June 9, 1926.

Appointed bishop of Winona, February 10, 1928.
