Emigrated to the United States, 1866. Graduate Royal Conservatory of Music, Dresden, 1885.

Career

Conductor, Cleveland (O.) Philharmonic Orchestra, 1885-1888. American Composers’ Concerts in Europe, 1890-1892. American Composers’ Concerts at Vienna International Museum and Theatrical Exhibition, Indianapolis May music festivals, 1892-1896.

President Metropolitan School of Music and principal vocal department, until 1897, when he removed to New York. Conductor New York Manuscript Society concerts, 1898. Founder and conductor New York People’s Symphony concerts, 1900—.
