Sun, Haiyin was born on July 27, 1958 in Kunming, Yunnan, China. Came to the United States, 1990. Son of Qiyuan Sun and Shouzheng Wang.


Bachelor of Science in Physics, Shanghai (China) Teachers University, 1982. Master of Science in Photonics, Shanghai (China) Institute Optics, and Fine Mechanics, 1985. Doctor of Philosophy in Photonics, University Arkansas, 1994.


Instructor Shanghai Teacher's University, 1982. Assistant professor Shanghai Institute Optics and Fine Mechanics, 1986-1988. Visiting scientist Telecommunications Network Research Center of Germany's Post, Darmstadt, 1988-1990.
