Bachelor of Arts, Ohio Northern U., 1891. Graduate Infantry and Cavalry School, 1897, School of the Line, 1920, General staff schedul, 1921.

Career

Commissioned Second lieutenant 24th Infantry, October 7, 1891. Promoted through grades lieutenant colonel, May 15, 1917. Colonel N.A., August 5, 1917.

Brigadier general (temporary), October 1, 1918-June 30, 1919. Colonel regular army April 2, 1920. In Cuba, June-September 1898, and July-October 1899.

Three tours to Philippines, 1900-1903, 1906-1907, 1915-1917. Commanded 350th Infantry, 88th Division, October 1917-October 1918. Commanded 154th Infantry Brigade.

77th Division, October 1918-May 1919. Participated in Alsace-Lorraine Sector, and in Meuse-Argonne offensive, October 28 to close of war. In drive from Grande Pre to Meuse River, east of Sedan, capturing 8 towns whose inhabitants had been cut off from the world for 4 years General staff corps and assistant chief of staff G-3, 2d Corps Area, Governors Island, New York, 1922-1926.

In charge National Guard Affairs, 2d Corps Area, 1926-1928. Chief of staff, 80th Division, Richmond, Virginia, September 1, 1928-April 30, 1932. Retired as brigadier general April 30, 1932.
