Harry Houdini, American magician. Awarded prize by Australian Aeronautic League, 1910, as being the first successful flier in Australia.

Background

Houdini, Harry was born on April 6, 1874 in Appleton, Wisconsin, United States. Son of Review Doctor Mayer Samuel and Cecelia (Steiner) Weiss, but name legally changed to Houdini.

Career

Began as trapeze performer, 1882. Has made several tours of the world, performing before many rulers and notables. Inventor of a diving suit.
