Gilbert, Henry Franklin Belknap was born on September 26, 1868 in Somerville. Massachusetts. Son of Benjamin Franklin and Therese Angeline (Gilson) Gilbert.

Education

Studied harmony N.E. Conservatory, 1888, composition with Edward MacDowell, Boston, 1889-1892.

Career

With Professor J. D. Whitney of Harvard, gave a series of concerts illustrating modern Slavic tendencies in musical composition. Composer: A Group of Songs, 1891. Two Episodes (orchestra), 1897.
