Ikhiel Yakov Korenblit received a Master in Physics from the University of Chernovtsy in 1955, Doctor of Philosophy from Physical-Technology Institute in Leningrad in 1962 and Doctor of Science from Leningrad Nuclear Physics Institute in 1983.
In 1955 Ikhiel Yakov Korenblit was appointed as a teacher at High School in Kamenetsk, Bielorussia. He served there for a year. From 1961 to 1962 he was a lecturer at Textile Institute in Leningrad. Korenblit also served at Joffe Physical-Technology Institute and Leningrad Nuclear Physical Institute. In 1991 he was appointed as a Research associate professor at School Physics & Astronomy, Tel-Aviv. Since 2001 he has been a professor emeritus.
Ikhiel Yakov Korenblit married Lena Rabinovich on June 24, 1961. He married Irina Khienkin on February 27, 1988.
