Ackman, Marek & Boyd, Ltd., was founded in 1959 by Richard L. Ackman, the senior member of the firm. The firm's current professional corporation was re-organized at the end of 1996. Since its inception, the firm has focused on civil trial work with a strong emphasis in insurance defense.

At the present time, attorneys of the firm provide individual concentrations in civil litigation, medical malpractice law, banking law, insurance law, probate and estate planning law and workers compensation law. Two fully staffed offices, in Kankakee and in Watseka, have been maintained since 1964, and an office in Manteno was opened in 1995. All partners and associates participate in continuing legal education seminars, serve as officers and committee members of professional organizations, of local and state bar associations and are actively engaged in community affairs.
