Preparatory education, Fontaine Hill Academy, Caroline Company, and Squire’s School, Richmond, Virginia. B.P., Washington College (now Washington and Lee University), 1869, Bachelor of Laws, 1870. Unmarried.

Career

Admitted to Virginia bar, 1870, and began practice in Caroline County. Settled in Richmond, 1871. Partner with Honorary James Lyons (member Confederate States Congress), 1872-1879.

Chairman State Council of Defense, 1918-1919. Member War History communications of Virginia.
