Studied, violin with Lorenzen and Theodore Jacoby, New York, and with Ostermeyer and Hegner, at Aschaffenburg, Germany, and Henri Petri, Dresden.

Career

Musical director Niblo’s Garden, New York, 1884. Head of music schools, Brooklyn, 1882-1903, Stockton, California, 1903-1906. Toured in Russia, 1908-1909.

Head of violin department École Communale, Etterbek, Brussels, Belgium, 1909-1910. Member Symphony Orchestra, Durant Brussels, 1910-1912. Founder Zoellner String Quartette (father, daughter and two sons), 1904, which has given in America over 2,000 concerts since 1912.

Also played extensively in Europe, Paris, Brussels, London, Berlin, Cologne, Roubaix, Lille, Liège, etc. Founder (with his children) Zoellner Conservatory of Music, Los Angeles, California, 1922. Home: 1250 S. Windsor Boulevard, Los Angeles 6, Calif.
