Kurt Stone graduated from Van Nuys Senior High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California—Santa Cruz in 1971. Kurt attended Eagleton Institute of Politics and Hebrew Union College, and holds a Doctor of Divinity from both.
Kurt has taught courses in history, international relations, literature, biography and cinema at Florida Atlantic and Florida International Universities for nearly two decades. He gives more than 175 lectures a year.
Stone published two works in the field of American political history - The Congressional Minyan: The Jews of Capitol Hill and most recently The Jews of Capitol Hill: A Compendium of Jewish Members of Congress. He also contributed about 40 essays to the Encyclopedia of Jewish American Popular Culture and has written for the new Encyclopedia Judaica. He has performed his one-man show, "An Evening with Sholem Aleichem" more than 400 times on three continents.
Kurt also served on the staff of various office holders including Alaska Senator Mike Gravel and California Governor Jerry Brown.
Kurt Stone is a member of the Civilian Review Board, Indiana Review Board and Central Conference of American Rabbis.
Kurt Stone married Anna Zamosc, a teacher, in 1998. Their marriage produced three children.
