Davidson was born on January 6, 1958 in Terre Haute, Indiana, United States; the daughter of John Robert Spencer and Patricia Ann (Ophoff) Spencer.
Davidson received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Eastern Illinois University in 1980.
Davidson began her career as a chemical teacher at Peoria High School in 1980. A year later she took the same position at Metamora Township High School and at Suffolk Hills High School in 1982. Then in 1983 Lacinda held the position of a chemical teacher at Walden School, where she worked until 1984.
Also Davidson served as an engineer at McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft Corporation from 1985 to 1991. In 1987, she was appointed an engineer at Rohr Industries and held it for a year. In 1991, Lacinda took a position of a chemist at Materials and Electrochemical Research Corporation. A year later she became an engineer at Orbital Science Corporation. Davidson held the same position at AlliedSignal Aerospace Corporation in 1993-1995.
In addition, in 1996, she was appointed an engineer at Learjet Corporation. The same year Lacinda took the same position at 3C Alliance. Since 1997 she has been a principal process engineer at Steward Observatory of the University of Arizona.
Davidson is a member of Electrochemical Society.
On December 28, 1982 Lacinda Davidson married James Robert Davidson.
