Laddie studied at Purdue University. In 1942 e became a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. In 1950 he received a degree of the Master of Science in the area of engineering of Johns Hopkins University.
Laddie worked in General Electric from 1954 to 1990. He was a manager planning and resources, electronics science and engineering, corporation research and development Schenectady in New York, United States from 1974 to 1976. In this year he became a manager of electronics systems programs operations, electrical science, and engineering. He worked there until 1984.
From 1984 to 1990 he became a manager of special programs and project development operation. Since 1990 Laddie worked as a director of the technology transfer program at Data Storage Systems Center Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, United States. In 1971 he became a chairman of the advisory group at the United States Army Electronics Command. He worked there until 1974. From 1978 to 1987 he was a member of the United States Army Science Board.

Laddie married to Thelma Mae Beasley on December 11, 1942. Children: Stephanie, Laddie L., Craig.
