A 1960s blue-collar family self-destructs as Floyd Franklin, an emotionally unstable man, turns the brunt of his dementia on his two daughters, after his wife, Ruth, abandons the home, leaving the girls unprotected.
Vice graduated from Hunter College of the City University of New York in 1985, specializing in English and Creative Writing. She then obtained her Master of Arts degree in Teaching English as a second language in 1987.
Vice worked variously as a cleaning woman, mason’s tender, and batik artist. From 1987 till 1992, she was an instructor of Creative Writing at the University of Santa Cruz. During that time, she also taught English as a second language at Monterey Peninsula College and Hunter College.
Since 1992, Vice works as a freelance writer and poet, based in Thermopolis, Wyoming.
Vice married partner Martha Clark Cummings on June 24, 1989. The couple has one daughter, Zoe Vice.
