Roots, Logan Herbert was born on July 27, 1870 in near Tamaroa, Perry County, Illinois, United States. Son of Philander Keep and Frances Maria (Blakeslee) Roots.

Career

Deacon, 1896, priest, 1898, Protestant Episcopal Church. Went to China, 1896, and studied the language at Wuchang for 2 years. Moved to Hankow, where was engaged in general missionary work until spring of 1904.

Consecrated, at Boston, November 14, 1904, 2d bishop of Hankow, China. Chairman China Continua.
