Polk, Lucius Eugene was born on July 10, 1833 in Salisbury, North Carolina, United States. Son of Doctor William Julius and Mary Rebecca (Long) Polk.

Education

Attended University of Virginia, 1850-1851.

Career

Commissioned colonel, then brigadier general Confederate Army, 1862, commanded Cleburne’s brigade. Fought at battles of Shiloh, Murfreesboro, Chickamanga, Kenesaw Mountain. Delegate to Democratic Convention, Chicago, 1884.
