Bachelor of Arts, Royal University of Ireland, 1900. Bachelor of Divinity, Propaganda Theological U., Rome, Italy, 1901, Licentiate of Sacred Theology, 1903.

Career

Ordained R.C. priest, 1904. Missionary in Florida, 1904-1914. Appointed bishop of St. Augustine by Pope Pius X, April 2, 1914.

Consecrated June 30, 1914. Appointed archbishop of Baltimore to succeed Cardinal Gibbons, August, 1921. Installed in Baltimore, November 30, 1921.
