November 27, 1889. Commissioned Second lieutenant 2d Infantry, June 13, 1883. Promoted through grades to colonel 16th Infantry, July 20, 1914. Adjutant general, October 2, 1915.

Brigadier general, May 15, 1917. Major general N.A., August 5, 1917.
