Appointed attorney for Savings Union Bank & Trust Company, San Francisco, 1913, director Vice-President 1919. Vice president Mercantile Trust Company of San Francisco (a consolidation of Savings Union Bank & Trust Company and Mercantile National Bank of San Francisco), 1920, then elected director of Mercantile and of its successor American Trust Company, resigned as director Vice-President May 1, 1930. Executive vice president The San Francisco Bank, 1930-1933, president 1933-1953, Chairman of the Board, 1953, director since 1930.
