Miles, Perry Lester was born on October 15, 1873 in Westerville, Ohio, United States. Son of James A. and Mary (Longwell) Miles.

Education

Graduated from the United States Military Academy, 1895, Army School of the Line, 1916, General staff schedul, 1920, Army War College, 1921.

Career

Commissioned Second lieutenant infantry, United States Army, June 12, 1895, and advanced through grades to colonel, July 1, 1920. Brigadier general, February 1, 1932. Commanded 1st, 2d, 16th Brigs. and 1st Division.

Served in Spanish-American War, Philippine Insurrection, Mexican border, World War. Retired October 31, 1937.
