Career
He created, along with Peter Ozsváth, Heegaard Floer homology, a homology theory for 3-manifolds. He got his Bachelor of Arts from Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary in 1990, and he received his Doctor of Philosophy from Rutgers University in 1994.
