Career
He is current manager of ŠK Slovan Bratislava. He was the first Cypriot to play in the FA Premier League. He was manager of Cypriot club Ermis Aradippou.
In August 1993 he signed for Newcastle United for £120,000 from OFI Crete, making him the first Cypriot to play in the FA Premier League.
He made his Newcastle debut against Tottenham on August 14, 1993. He went on to play for two seasons at the club before returning to OFI Crete.
He also played for Apollon Limassol, Anorthosis Famagusta, Olympiakos Nicosia, APOEL and Cyprus national football team He holds the English Union of European Football Associations A Licence and also the Union of European Football Associations Pro Licence.
He was the manager for APEP Pitsilia, Olympiakos Nicosia, OFI Crete, Doxa Katokopia, Enosis Neon Paralimni and in 2012 managed again for the third time Olympiakos Nicosia.
On September 20, 2012, Papavasiliou became manager of Apollon Limassol, for whom he had played from 1996 to 2000.
