The firm traces its history to the year 1936 when the late R. Doctorate. Douglas, Senior and his son, R. Doctorate. Douglas, Junior, founded the firm of Douglas and Douglas. The late Thomas P. Ravenel joined the firm in 1950.
After practicing law for over 50 years, primarily in the field of Labor Relations, Mr.
Douglas, Junior became Counsel to the firm in 1989. Mr. Ravenel practiced with the firm exclusively in the area of Real Estate for nearly 40 years prior to his death in 1992. Mr. Hardy joined the firm in 1960 after serving as County Attorney.
He was Counsel for the Guilford County Board of Education for approximately 36 years where he became involved in Education, Construction and Personnel matters.
Other practice was a general civil practice. Mr. Hardy became of Counsel to the firm in 1994.
Mr. Douglas and Mr. Hardy are certified Mediators and are engaged as such in the North Carolina Superior Court Mediation Program.
