Bachelor of Arts, Bacone College, 1894. Bachelor of Divinity, Division School, University of Chicago, 1898, post-graduate work, 1903.

Career

Began ministry Baptist Church as student pastor, 1895, evangelist, 1899-1900. Pastor successively First Church, Quincy, First Church, Urbana, Illinois, Muscatine, Iowa, and Muskogee, Oklahoma, until 1918. Again at Quincy as pastor Central Church (consolidated of First and Second chs.), 1918-1926, Immanuel Church, Chicago, 1926-1928, Logan Square Church, Chicago, 1929-April 1941.

Pastor First Baptist Church, Arthur, Illinois to 1943. Retired June 1943; acting pastor Congregational Church, Shelby, Michigan for duration World World War II, pastor First Congressional Church, Interlachen, Florida since 1947. Offered harmony resolution adopted by Northern Baptist Convention, at Seattle, Washington, 1925, when a division between fundamentalists and modernists seemed inevitable.

Has served on Baptist Convention Bds. President Chicago Baptist Ministerial Union, October 1929-April 1930.
