Vadim Sidur


Vadim Sidur, USSR Sculptor.


Sidur, Vadim was born in 1924 in Dnepropetrovsk.


Graduated from the Moscow Stroganov Art School.


Took part in World War II. Was wounded and became an invalid at the age of 19. Became famous in the early 1970s. In 1974, attacked by the weekly Sovetskaia Rossia for formalism.

Member of the Moscow branch of the Union of Soviet Artists. After his death, left 500 sculptures in his basement studio. Suddenly rediscovered, after an article in Literaiurnaia Gazela by a non-professional authority on sculpture, the academician Vitalii Ginzburg.

Recognition came posthumously after articles about him appeared in Ogonek and similar periodicals.
