Meyer was born on April 25, 1951 in Berne, Switzerland; the daughter of Theodor Paul and Maria Ruth (Schär) Gerber.
Meyer received his Bachelor of Science degree from Engineering School of Burgdorf in 1974. Fifteen years later she earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in National Sciences from the University of Bern.
Meyer began her career as an assistant at Engineering School of Burgdorf in 1974 and held it for a year. In 1976, she took a position a lecture at the University of Bern, where she worked until 1989. Then in 1990 Veronika became a senior assistant at the same university. Eight years later she held the position of a postdoctoral fellow at Weizmann Institute in Rehovot, Israel and at the University of Delaware.
In 1993, Meyer disided to take a position of a lecturer at the University of Basel. Three years later Veronika returned to the University of Bern, where she was teaching various topics of analytical chemistry in particular on High Performance Liquid Chromatography. She worked as a senior scientist at Empa, the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research in St. Gallen from 1998 to 2015.

2013Meyer has been a vice president of analytical chemistry division at Swiss Chemistry Society, since 2006. Also she is a member of Swiss Alpine Club.
On December 23, 1974 Veronika Meyer married Otto Meyer.
