Viktor Andreievich Simov was a Russian painter and scenographer who pioneered the use of Naturalistic settings.


Simov, Viktor was born on April 14, 1858 in Moscow.


Graduated from the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in 1882. Pupil of V. Perov, I Prianishnikov and A. Savrasov.


Joined the Peredvizhniki, and took part in their exhibitions: 1883, 1891 and 1893. Worked mainly at the Moscow Art Theatre, apart from the period 1912-1925. Stage designer for Tri Sestry, Vishnevyi Sad, Na Dne, Tsar Fedor Ioannovich, and Diadia Vania.

The period between 1912-1925 in his official biography is unclear. Probably lived abroad.
