Vladimir Dukelskii


Vladimir Dukelskii, USSR Composer.


Dukelskii, Vladimir was born on October 10, 1903 in the village of Parfianovka near Pskov.


Studied at the Kiev Conservatory under R.Glier.


Moved to France, 1920, and to the USA in 1929. Wrote his first music for L. Miasin’s ballet Zefir i Flora (Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes, Monte Carlo, 1925). Strongly influenced by American jazz and music hall.

Worked for Leonid Miasin and George Balanchine. Became a very successful composer in the USA.
