Chambers, William Nesbitt was born on February 22, 1853 in N. Norwich, Ontario, Canada. Son of Robert and Catherine Lucas (Nesbitt) Chambers.

Student Queen’s U., Ontario, Canada, 1871-1873. Bachelor of Arts, Princeton, 1876, Master of Arts, 1879. Doctor of Divinity, Queen’s, 1911, Princeton, 1911.

Career

Missionary American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions to Turkey since 1879. Conducted relief work in Erzerum Province, relieving 50,000 or 60,000 persons. Moved to Adana, 1899, made president International Relief Commission.

Served as governmental (Turkish) commissioner of industries for women of Adana Vilayet. Now retired. Author: Yoljuluk. Address: Care American Mission, Beirut, Syria.
