Attended Kalamazoo summer school, Port Huron (Michigan) Business College. Doctor of Divinity, Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, Chicago, 1935.

Career

Came to the United States, 1900, naturalized, 1916. With Michigan Sulphite Pulp & Paper Company as stenographer, bookkeeper, paymaster, 1902-1910. Ordained Baptist ministry, 1910.

Pastor 1st Church, St. Clair, Michigan, 1910-1914 (membership doubled), Highland Park Church, Detroit, 1914-1956. Trustee Northern Baptist Theological Seminary. Member ministers’ council of Northern Baptist Convention, general council, 1940-1947.

Vice president Michigan State Baptist Convention, 1938-1939. 1st vice president Detroit Baptist Union, 1917-1918. Moderator Detroit Baptist Association, 1926-1927.

Trustee Detroit Baptist Missionary Society since 1941. Vice chairman Highland Park Library Commission, 1941. President Detroit Baptist Ministers’ Conference, 1917-1918, Detroit Hebrew Christian Mission, 1925-1928, 1931-1932, since 1949, member of council since 1944.
