Background
Panos Kudumakis holds a PhD in Digital Audio Signal Processing from King's College University of London (1996), an MSc in Music Technology from Keele University (1991) and a BSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering from National Technical University of Athens, Greece (1990). His research interests lie in Media, Music and Standardisation.
He is research manager at qMedia - Queen Mary University of London, managing its portfolio on semantic music & media technologies for internet, broadcasting and mobile applications. In the past he held positions as senior consultant in media technologies in private and public sectors and as head of digital rights management at EMI-Central Research Labs.
He has been actively involved in standardisation efforts around the world (OPIMA, SDMI, EBU, DMP and MPEG) and managed more than two dozen National, European and Interantional funded projects. He has been serving the EC as well as a number of national research funding agencies as a scientific expert and evaluator in ICT related programmes. He has also published in IEEE SP Magazine on the future of music & media and hosted the 89th ISO/IEC MPEG London meeting.
