Pavel Yurevich Tatarnikov was born on July 23, 1971, in Brest, Brest region of the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic (now Brest, Brest region, Belarus), to the family of artists. He began to draw at the age of two, painting books during his childhood, and his parents did not forbid that kind of creativity.

Pavel Tatarnikov started his career in 1989, illustrating his first books. Since 2001, Pavel Tatarnikov has also been serving as an associate professor of arts at the Graphic Department of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts. He lives and works in Minsk.
