Background

Pavel Yurevich Tatarnikov was born on July 23, 1971, in Brest, Brest region of the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic (now Brest, Brest region, Belarus), to the family of artists. He began to draw at the age of two, painting books during his childhood, and his parents did not forbid that kind of creativity.

Education

Pavel Tatarnikov graduated from the National College of Arts (now Minsk State Gymnasium-College of Arts) in 1989, and in 1995, he received his Diploma from the Belarusian State Academy of Arts (Department of Graphics).

Career

Pavel Tatarnikov started his career in 1989, illustrating his first books. In 1997, he was admitted to the Belarusian Union of Artists, and since then he has been working as a full-time artist and illustrator, cooperating with Belarusian, Russian, English, Italian, Japanese, and Taiwanese book publishers.

Since 2001, Pavel Tatarnikov has also been serving as an associate professor of arts at the Graphic Department of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts. He lives and works in Minsk.

Achievements

• Pavel Tatarnikov is best known as a Belarusian artist and author of a number of illustrations to various books published all over the world. During his career, Pavel took part in the international and personal exhibitions in Belarus, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Serbia, Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, France, Spain, Great Britain, USA, Japan, and Taiwan. He is a laureate of different international prizes and awards.
  
  Among the most significant personal exhibitions of recent years, held in Belarus, are exhibitions in the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus (2004), the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus (2008), the Museum of Modern Fine Art (2010).
  
  Pavel Tatarnikov is the only Belarusian artist, who won the Golden Apple Award at the International Biennale in Bratislava (two times).
