As a member of the Socialist Party (Socialistische Partij) she has been an Member of Parliament since 30 November 2006. From April till December 2006 she was a member of the municipal council of Haarlem
From 2002 to 2003 she was a member of the Dutch National Students" Trade Union (LSVb).
