The tribe was led by Eshiki and Otoshiki, or elder and younger Shiki brothers. Eshiki resisted the emperor's forces, rejecting their advice to surrender, but Otoshiki took the advice and surrendered. After that, Eshiki was attacked from two sides by the emperor's and Otoshiki's forces and finally killed. Otoshiki became the governor of Shiki.
