Background
慧信尼 Eshinni was the daughter of Kanezane Kujo and originally named Tamakihime.

Later entered a monastery as a nun under the name by which she is now known (1232). When her husband left for Kyoto she refused to accompany him and stayed behind in Hitachi, Ibaraki Prefecture, to spread his doctrine.
She was married to Shinran, the founder of the Shinshu Sect of Buddhism, had four sons and three daughters
