A.C. Joshi

Background

Joshi was born on the 18 of September, 1908 in India. Little is known from his biography.

Education

He graduated from the Punjab University getting there 3 degrees: Bachelor of Science in 1929, Master of Scince in 1930, Doctor of Science in 1937.

Career

Joshi started working as a Demonstrator in Botany in the Punjab University from 1930 till 1931, then he was an Assistant Professor and later Professor of Botany in the Banaras Hindu University. Since 1957 he started working as a Vice-Chancellor in the Punjab University; he also was a Vice-Chancellor of the Kuruksetra University.

He wrote about 100 articles and research papers.The date and place of his death are unknown.

Joshi was a fellow: National Institute of Sciences of India (Council), Indian Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Sciences (Vice-President), Indian Botanical Society (Past-President & Council), Institute of Botany. And a member of: Indian Science Congress Association (President, 1947), Indian Society of Genetics & Plant Breeding (Past-Vice-President & Council), Northern Indian Science Association (Secy-General).
