Background

TALMAGE, A. M. was born in February 1871. Youngest son of Reverend Mayow Talmage, Master of Arts, Rector of Fifield, Oxfordshire.

Education

Studied at The High School, Bishop Stortford. Harlow College, Essex.

Career

Began studying painting at the West London School of Art, Great Tichlield Street, 1890. Herkomer School, 1891. Exhibited first picture at Royal Academy, 1894.

Settled in Saint Ives in 1892.

Since when he has been a regular exhibitor at Academy and other London and provincial exhibitions. Is a painter of cattle with landscape.

Joined Mr. Julius Olssen at the Cornish School of Landscape and Sea Painting, 1896, of which school he is now Principal.

Membership

Royal Society of British Artists 1902. Clubs: Chelsea, Arts.
