Career
The 3rd Suffolk District, within the city of Boston, Massachusetts. The 3rd Suffolk District encompasses the North End, Waterfront, Chinatown, South End, Financial District, Bay Village, Leather District, and parts of Beacon Hill, Back Bay, and Upper Roxbury neighborhoods.
Michlewitz was elected in a special election following the resignation of Salvatore DiMasi. On May 19, 2009, Michlewitz won the Democratic primary with 50.19 percent of the vote, defeating Susan Passoni (4613 percent), Lucinda Rivera (244 percent), and Brian Ross (104 percent).
On June 16,2009 Michlewitz won the general election with 79.78 percent of the vote, defeating non-party candidate John A Keith (1483 percent) and Republican candidate David Trumbull (437 percent).
Prior to the election, Michlewitz worked for the Former Speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives Sal DiMasi as his Constituent Services Director from 2004 until DiMasi's resignation on January 27, 2009.
Michlewitz was re-elected in 2010 and in 2012, facing no primary or general election opponents in either year.
