Bergman earned a doctorate in science education at Columbia University and authored and co-authored several books in the area of science education and school administration. He served as a school administrator in public and private schools in the New York City Metropolitan Area. A library was named in his honor at the Ralph South. Maugham School in Tenafly, New Jersey upon his retirement having served as principal of that school for over 20 years.
Currently, Doctor Bergman serves as Regional Science Coordinator for Putnam/Northern Westchester Boards of Cooperative Educational Services, a consortium of school districts in New York State.
