In 1922 he graduated from Tokyo University. In 1923 - toured Great Britain. Upon returning joined the Physico-Chemical Research Institute (1925). A few years later he left the Institute to devote himself to meteorology, specializing in the study of winds and clouds at Gotemba.
Career
In 1937 - became a member of the Central Meteorological Observatory, Tokyo, becoming chief of the research section (1947). He has taken 8,000 photos of mountain clouds as well as movies. Masanao was an author of "Formation of Mountain Clouds and Wind Currents" (1941).
